The history behind the bridge and the viewport

Construction of the viewpoint was commenced in 1998 while construction of the Öresund Bridge was in full swing. At the Öresund Bridge Exhibition, the project and the bridge’s construction was captured in art form. Greger Dahlström and Stanislaw Welin designed, among other things, the building, which is shaped like a crescent moon. A design for which both architects received Malmö City’s prestigious City Development Award.

Three years after the inauguration of the Öresund Bridge Exhibition, the City of Malmö took over the ownership of the premises at the foot of the bridge. For a few years it remained empty and idle, until Luftkastellet took over the premises in 2003 and brought new life to this beautiful venue!
